Crypto Exchange FTX is set to tour African University campuses to teach young Africans the best practices in the digital currency ecosystem.
The flame of crypto adoption in Africa continues to burn relentlessly. This has led a strong industry force to indicate interest in reinforcing the continent’s position in this global race.
According to reports, Crypto giants FTX.com plans to invest extensively in crypto education among African youth through its #FTXAfricaCampusTour. This move comes on the heels of its recently successful #FTXAfricaCryptoTour, which took the company across several African towns to educate citizens on digital assets.
#FTXAfricaCampusTour Takes Off
The announced #FTXAfricaCampusTour aims to be bigger, better and packed full of fascinating facts, must-knows, and best practices in the crypto ecosystem. FTX aims to teach young African Students about prospects on the blockchain and in the cryptocurrency industry. The plan would see the Sam Bankman-Fried owned platform leverage its experienced in-house campus ambassadors and industry experts.
The campus tour would be accessible to students of selected university campuses around Africa who desire to increase their knowledge about cryptocurrencies. Participants will gain exposure to the FTX platform and members of the local crypto community.
Also, apart from learning, the #FTXAfricaCampusTour would include fun interactive activities. This will allow students to network with each other while giving them the chance to win freebies and other prizes.
Adebayo Juwon, FTX Africa’s Business Development Manager, spoke on the development, highlighting the event’s importance. He said that the event would enhance active interactions between new and active users of the exchange. He further explained that students’ knowledge of crypto trading, NFTs, and DeFi would be improved through the programme.
Furthermore, Juwon explained that his team had empowered and trained campus ambassadors across these higher institutions and organised several smaller meetups. He said,
We have taken the time to vet, select & train students who are avid FTX users, converted them to FTX Campus Ambassadors and most importantly empowered them. And so far, we have dozens of these active campus ambassadors in numerous universities across the continent and have already organised campus events in so many renowned higher institutions of learning.
Young Africans Are Natural Targets For Crypto Education
With millennials and Gen Zs the most likely demography to adopt cryptocurrencies, platforms driving crypto education continue to target university students. It seems to be literate and on the cusp of joining the broader labour market, making them suitable targets for crypto education.
Although FTXs effort is commendable and welcomed, it would not be the first platform to push crypto adoption among university students. Binance had earlier in the year intensified its crypto education efforts by reaching out to higher institutions across Nigeria. The leading global exchange offered several masterclasses in line with its efforts to increase crypto literacy in Africa.
Also, Binance’s effort has seen it extend its reach beyond only students. A recent Twitter space held saw the exchange educate Nigerian youths and business owners on using Binance pay for SMEs.
Consequently, the effort put in by the platforms seems to be bearing the intended results. Data from Statista shows that Nigerians are the most likely to say they own cryptocurrency globally. The easy access to crypto exchanges and increased education about the space is increasing adoption across the continent.

Many African countries, especially Nigeria, face dire economic challenges and infrastructure deficits. The absence of good leadership and basic amenities coupled with ongoing corruption makes the future outlook for young citizens bleak. This situation has increased calls for the emigration of these youth by all means.
However, crypto offers an escape, and increased education about the space has seen many youths embrace it. It provides a new means of livelihood while protecting them from economic hardships brought about by the ailing economy. These young individuals stand to benefit immensely from the drive to educate Africans in the long run.
